How are you currently using Simbound in your teaching?
Please share your institution, study programme, course duration (in weeks), and how the simulation fits into your curriculum.
I use Simbound in my E-Commerce course in the Programme Grande École (PGE) at emlyon business school. The course has eight sessions and runs for about two months in total. The simulation runs alongside the course, starting with one trial round, and gives students a hands-on way to apply what we discuss in class, such as the customer journey.

What is your favourite Simbound feature, and why?
Is it the AI-powered tools, competitive learning environment, realistic marketing decisions, or the variety of digital marketing topics covered?
My favourite features are the SEO analysis and the web analytics tools. They let students work with the kind of data and tools they would use in a real digital marketing role.

What advice would you give educators introducing marketing simulations into their teaching for the first time?
Are there any practical tips or lessons learned you would share?
Plan for very different levels of guidance across teams. Some groups work through problems on their own, while others need much more support. The trial round is a good moment to get everyone up to speed.

What’s the next big development you’d like to explore through marketing simulations?
Whether it’s emerging digital marketing channels, new audiences, AI, data privacy, or something entirely different, what excites you most about the future of marketing education?
I would like to explore generative AI, both in how consumers shop and in how companies conduct user research.
Additional insights
A few more quick questions to get to know their experience.
-
How do you structure the simulation experience?
Students work in teams of five. The simulation runs over the eight sessions of the course, about two months, and starts with a trial round so teams can get familiar with the platform.
-
How do you assess student performance?
I grade teams on their simulation results. The team with the highest revenue in the class serves as the benchmark.
-
What surprised you most after introducing Simbound?
How differently teams engage. Some take ownership of problems right away, while others need much more prompting.
-
How do you encourage students to learn from their results, whether poor or solid?
I meet with the teams in class and discuss with them what they can improve.
-
How much guidance do you provide during the simulation?
Students generally need a lot of guidance, but it really depends on the group. Some teams solve problems themselves, while others need more active coaching.
